The Office

By special request, here are some pictures of the office I spend most days in at Defensores de la Naturalez, the NGO that co-administers the Sierra del Lacandon National Park. Plus a special bonus map of my commute from my home in San Miguel to the Defensores office in Santa Elena.

Okay, so here's the office...

I kid! That's el rancho, which is like the outdoor conference room/party gazebo on the office grounds. Here are more photos of the office and people that can be found there.

And here is a google map of the commute from my house to the office, done on foot, boat, and tuk-tuk.

What a wonderful commute! It's beautiful, and I bet it doesn't cost too much either. It looks like a great place to work, with good people!

Love the google map and the photo of the launching spot of the boat part of your daily commute. :-)

As you know, i spend a bit of time iwth boaters, the kinds that are on lakes and wakeboard and go fishing n' stuff, and these guys name their boats. There's an inordinate amount of boats named "The Office". Perhaps leading to some funny stories to the ol'wife at home or the slavedriver boss, "Yah, I'm in "the office" ho ho ho". Your hut story made me laugh and reminded me of that. Perhaps you should go post a sign on that palapa that says, "La Officina" (or however you say it in spanish).
